What is Value Investing?
What is value investing?
  • Value investing is an investment paradigm that derives from the ideas on investment which generally involves buying securities whose shares appear underpriced by some form(s) of fundamental analysis.
  • Warren Buffett has taken the value investing concept even further as his thinking has evolved to where for the last 25 years or so his focus has been on “finding an outstanding company at a sensible price” rather than generic companies at a bargain price.

There are many online resources introduce the concept and teach you how to start using the value investing for your own personal investment and perhaps launch a fund as your career in future.

When I was at Columbia, my first value investing class was with Bruce Greenwald.  His book and interview really helped me demystify the concept of value investing (see his interview here).

Besides, you must read the book "The Essays of Warren Buffett" in which Buffett uses the most simple concepts to explain key principles of value investment philosophy.
